Shooting Star : Star Ornament for Ears | Ear Cuff
5 Akoya keshi pearls / K 10 gold
Star-Ornament for Ears

Shooting Star : Star Ornament for Ears | Ear Cuff
5 Akoya keshi pearls / K 10 gold
I wanted to create a star ornament for your ear,
As if I were collecting as many shining stars as I could,
Slipping them out of my pocket one by one.
I imagined gathering stars from the night sky
And giving them to you as little ornaments,
Pieces of starlight that could sparkle with you,
Like stars shining against a deep midnight-blue sky.
…
I created these ear cuffs to emphasize a primitive, timeless impression through the unique shapes of Keshi Pearls, which seem to retain memories of prehistoric times. More than simply decorative elements, these pearls act as a bridge between the present and the distant past, connecting us to the traces and beauty of an ancient.
***Ear Cuff by Akoya Keshi Pearl
The tiny, uniquely shaped Akoya pearl is called a “Keshi Pearl.” Unlike cultured pearls, Keshi pearls are not formed by intentionally inserting a nucleus into Akoya oysters.
Instead, they form naturally when a foreign object accidentally enters the oyster’s body. To protect itself, the Akoya oyster responds by coating the foreign object with layers of nacre, gradually forming a pearl. Because they develop naturally, Keshi pearls have unique shapes, colors, and textures.
They are incredibly rare, like tiny stars scattered across the night sky, making each pearl a one-of-a-kind treasure.
